A big congratulations to all the winners of our Cathedral Golf Club Championships in March! Thanks to Club Chairman Matthew Mayo and everyone who participated. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!

We were privileged to attend the 125th Anniversary of the Battle of Spion Kop, commemorating a pivotal moment in history. A truly meaningful day of remembrance, unity, and reflection. We stand together in honour of those who fought and sacrificed, and are reminded of the importance of preserving our history for future generations.

In January we attended the 2024 GuestRevu GREAT Awards at the Grand Daddy Hotel in Cape Town.
It was an exceptional evening, and we are honoured to have been selected as a Finalist in the Top 10 in Africa with 100+ rooms’ category. Congratulations to various category winners!

THE STORY OF FREDDY THE FROG
In 1939, a fine-looking Frog was born and took his place in the hotel’s first fountain, greeting guests as they arrived. As the hotel grew, he moved to the new Koi Pond. Over time, weather took its toll, leaving him cracked and worn. Freddy was lovingly restored by regular guest, Peter Robson, some years back and now welcomes guests with his signature smile as you enter reception.
Inspired by his adventures, our complimentary Kids Activity Book (available at reception) is filled with a froggy hunt, word searches, mazes and more, ensuring endless entertainment for your little ones.
