Welcome to Cathedral Peak Hotel – The Hidden Gem of the Drakensberg
Nestled in the heart of the Drakensberg lies 4-star Cathedral Peak Hotel, providing luxurious accommodation, decadent dining and endless entertainment surrounded by the magnificent peaks of some of the World Heritage Site’s most impressive and iconic mountains.
The history of Cathedral Peak Hotel: From romantic vision to idyllic reality
This story starts, as all great stories do, with a great upheaval 150 million years ago, the shifting of vast continents caused a volcanic eruption that created the great escarpment that we call the Drakensberg. The passing of time and the shifting of seasons have carved this majestic mountain range into the imposing peaks and lush ravines that Cathedral Peak Hotel calls home today.
A recognised World Heritage Site
The spectacular Drakensberg mountains took their rightful place on the international tourism stage when the 243 000 hectare uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park was proclaimed a UNESCO World Heritage Site on 29th November 2000.
